Apartment in Luxembourg City
refurbishment of a private dwelling pdf
The renovation of this flat located in an apartment block built in 1959 along one of Luxembourg’s two main innercity ‘avenues’ strips down the existing spatial structure to its essential elements, an openspace living area and a corridor-type circulation area. All beams and posts of the concrete framework are laid bare, turning the skeleton construction into an ‘ideal’ setting for the owner’s art collection.
A darkgrey coating unifies the strongly cut floor surfaces. The partially existing vaulted cornice is maintained and completed, introducing the white plastered ceilings.
